I picked up the fourth Monster High book, Back an Deader than Ever, because I needed a familiar, silly, quick read. Lisi Harrison books always hit the spot for that reason alone. However, this one was my least favourite in the series thus far. I don't know why but I just got bored. Maybe I'm over it, finally. In this addition to the series The RAD (Regular Attribute Dodger) community has found their freedom within the world. They have come out and told the Normies that they are the sons and daughters of famous screen monsters... that there are Vampires and Werewolves and other sorts of monsters in their midst. And now, just when the community is stabilizing into something resembling normalcy there is a new threat. Draculaura's father is trying to segregate the community again by breaking ground on a new school that will be for RADs only. This will set back the progress especially now that Lala has entered them into a national contest that highlights the RADs and Normies integration, and will reward them handsomely for it. Will the communities be able to stand together? The ongoing plot line within these books that I have always liked was the RADs is in their struggle for equality. It was the only thing going in the series that made me feel okay for reading these books. Now that this plot line has been resolved (well, semi-resolved, really) I feel like a big part of interest has been deflated. For me, at least. What remains is a giant, sugary sweet pile of guilty pleasure and I'm not sure if I'll be going on. At his point I don't think there is another book coming, however, I'm not putting anything past Mattel and Hatchette. It's a bit disappointing that we have finally gotten to the book about Dracula's daughter only to have it be so bland. I skimmed the ending on this one, which is never a good sign.3 out of 5 stars.- review courtesy of www.bibliopunkk.net
