Jennifer Estep never disappoints... at least, not thus far. (Qualify everything!) Tangled Threads proves to be another bit of awesome in her already stellar Elemental Assassin series. It's book four, you'd think it would start to skew into annoying. And cliche. It hasn't, it's better than ever! In Tangled Threads Gin discovers that Mab Monroe, Vampire baddie extraordinaire in Ashland, has hired an assassin to take her (or rather The Spider) out. LaFleur is deadly and calculating... and shoots green lightning! Neat. LaFleur also has her sights set on Gin's everyday persona, the one who works behind the Pork Pit's counter... so either way Gin goes she could get dead. But things become uber personal when LaFleur takes on another target closer to Gin's heart... her little sister, Bria. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as I read the blurb on the front of the book. For the record, I never read book blurbs. Or synopsis on the back, or what have you until I am finished with the book. These scenarios almost always contain spoilers and I avoid them like the proverbial plague. However, this idea made me jump up and down in squeeful giddiness... two badass assassins in one book?! Estep might as well be talking dirty to me. There's nothing more I think I would want at this point in the series. Fantastic! I really love this series. There's something impressive about it. For once someone has written something where the details ring in the readers brain. It's hard to forget everything that happens here... in the best way possible. This is a series I will read, and then will be just as geeked to reread. I utterly, absolutely, stupidly love these books. Huge amounts of happy. 5 out of 5 stars. - review courtesy of www.bibliopunkk.net
