Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side - Beth Fantaskey I seem to be in this pattern recently... one serious book, one fluffy book...and so on and so forth. This was time for my light and fluffy book, and for that I chose Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey.Surprising to say I quite liked it. It's not perfect by any means, there's a lot of cheese to it. However, I was solidly entertained by it for a few afternoons, including one trip to the beach. So that's saying something.Jessica is a normal teenage girl living in Pennsylvania with her parents on a farm. Suddenly a strange young man from Romania shows up claiming to be Jessica's betrothed...and a Vampire. Before she realizes it the man, one arrogant Lucius Vladescu, has moved into the spare apartment above her parent's garage. Now Jessica's entire senior year is dogged by Lucius, including her romantic pursuits of her neighbour Jake. Jessica finds herself frustrated with Lucius' constant insistance that she is a Princess and must act according to her station... she just wants to be a normal human girl, regardless of hot Romanian Vampire Prince.Like I said, solid entertainment. I laughed out loud a few times... perhaps it helps that my beau is of Pennsylvanian descent...and a farmboy...so much of the material was (very) familiar and endearing to me. However, it does lack a little for creativity despite the obvious silliness of the romance. Gotta give it a 4 out of 5 stars. It's fun, but not something I would read again.- review courtesy of www.bibliopunkk.net
